Putting the radio voice to good use at the inaugural Air Guitar Hamilton Championships on July 5th
Hamilton is the home of a vibrant music scene with bands like Hollerado, The Arkells, Monster Truck. Now… Air Guitar? One minute of Air Guitar is all it takes for your 15-minutes of fame, or infamy, as it might be as you rock out to become Hamilton’s first-ever official Air Guitar Champion. If the judges like what you do, you could win a trip to Toronto for the National Championships and then maybe, just maybe you win it all and get to fly to FINLAND for the 22nd Air Guitar World Championships!
For all of us that worship those who can and want to channel our love for music and good times into a gleeful expression of rock music… this is your chance to have some fun. Best of all, the event proceeds go to a good cause – children’s charity Right To Play Canada.
Do it for the glory. Do it for the free Collective Arts beer, the Panago Pizza. Do it for the charity. Do it for the cheering crowd. Do it for Rachel. She’s our first announced judge and an active promoter/member of the Hamilton music and arts community.
Rachel worked at 93.3 CFMU as the campus and community radio station’s music director for 2 years before graduating at McMaster with a Communications degree and taking on a full time position at the station as their Community Outreach Coordinator. She’s often found among the movers and shakers of Hamilton’s music scene or hitting up the many coffee shops and art gallery’s around town. Rachel knows truly authentic art when she sees it, believes in world peace and always has her air guitar in hand. She can’t wait to help decide the most unique, hardcore and rock and roll worthy steel city champ for this year’s Air Guitar Battle.
